Data & Compliance

Last updated June 25, 2026

We take the sourcing, handling, and responsible use of business information seriously. This page summarizes where our information comes from, what it is, and the responsibilities that come with using it. It supplements our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy.

Where our information comes from

The information available through TruckScribe is compiled from publicly available and lawfully obtained sources. These include business registration, licensing, and operating-authority records originating from federal and state transportation authorities — including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the MOTUS registration system — together with other public and third-party data sources. We aggregate, organize, verify where practicable, and enhance this information so that it can be used efficiently by our subscribers.

An independent commercial service

TruckScribe is an independent business. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to the FMCSA, the U.S. Department of Transportation, MOTUS, or any government agency. References to those sources describe the origin of certain public records only.

What the information is — and isn't

The records made available through the Service are business and professional records relating to commercial operators and their representatives in a business capacity. They are not consumer reports, and the Service is not a consumer reporting agency. The information must not be used as a factor in decisions about credit, insurance, employment, housing, or any other purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) or similar laws.

Using the information responsibly

Outreach to businesses is regulated. As a subscriber, you are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the information complies with all applicable laws and rules, which may include:

  • the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and rules on calling, texting, and automated dialing;
  • federal and state Do-Not-Call requirements;
  • the CAN-SPAM Act and other commercial-email rules;
  • state telemarketing and solicitation laws; and
  • applicable data-protection and privacy laws.

This means obtaining any required consents, honoring opt-out and do-not-contact requests, screening against applicable suppression lists, and verifying information before relying on it. We provide data and tools — not legal advice.

Accuracy

Much of the underlying information originates from third-party and public sources that we do not control. It may contain errors, omissions, or out-of-date entries and is provided on an “as is” basis without warranty of accuracy or completeness. You should independently verify information before acting on it.

Removal and correction requests

If you are a business representative and believe a record relating to you should be corrected or removed, contact us at data@truckscribe.com with enough detail to locate it. We review such requests in good faith and act on reasonable requests where appropriate, consistent with our legal obligations and the public-record nature of much of the information.

Security

We use reasonable measures designed to protect the information we hold, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure, but we work to safeguard our platform and the data within it.
